SPAM and BBDO bring us a Figgy Christmas

To celebrate the joyous holiday season, the makers of SPAM are bringing back a forgotten Christmas flavor with the launch of its limited-edition SPAM Figgy Pudding.

Most Americans only know figgy pudding from the classic holiday song We Wish you a Merry Christmas, so to launch the limited-time flavor SPAM Figgy Pudding, the song was reimagined with new lyrics that speculate what the figgy flavor actually is – sung by classic holiday characters including Santa, reindeer, elves, Tiny Tim, a yeti and of course a holiday hog.

Decked out on a stage inside of a snow globe, we watch as these Christmas characters struggle to explain SPAM Figgy Pudding, but still, just can’t get past its delicious flavor. “It was incredible watching this piece come together from the stages of animation to the record of the song,” stated Taylor Snyder, CD BBDO MPLS. REELated:

“Spam is a classic that continually reinvents itself with consumers, so it made sense to take some holiday classics and give them a new spin,” said Laura Fegley, CCO BBDO MPLS.”

(FYI SPAM Figgy Pudding features notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and cloves, orange, fig and dried fruit.)

The new seasonal variety is available while supplies last at SPAM.com, Amazon and Walmart. SPAM brand’s last limited-edition holiday flavor ‘Pumpkin Spice’ sold out in under 12 hours and the brand has big hopes for a similar response – and a Happy New Year!
