SNL skewers Jim Jordan and Donald Trump

Ohio Republican Congressman Jim Jordan had a rough week. Not only did the wannabe Speaker of the House fall short in three rounds of voting for the speakership, losing more Republicans with each vote, but now SNL (Saturday Night Live) took aim at Jordan and former disgraced President Donald Trump during its Cold Open.

Mikey Day portrayed Rep. Jordan, while James Austin Johnson portrayed Trump, and their comedic interaction left the audience in stitches.

In the skit, the comedy duo brought their A-game, with Trump visiting Jordan’s office after the Ohio Republican’s embarrassing defeat in his bid for House Speaker. Jordan was seen fuming over the loss and expressing his desire to, “Get Congress back to work so I can shut it down again.”

However, the comedic twist came when James Austin Johnson’s Trump made his entrance with a cheeky, “Yoo hoo—is this the loser’s office?” Trump didn’t hold back, delivering a string of humorous jabs at Jordan.

“I prefer the Jordans who win, okay? Like the great Michael Jordan,” Trump quipped before adding, “You don’t look good. You look like the night manager at a two-star steakhouse.”

The former president humorously pointed out that Jordan’s real problem was not being Donald Trump. “You’re not me. You’re no fun; I’m hilarious,” he said. “You’re little Jim Jordan, I’m Donald Trump. I’m Coke—you’re Shasta.” Watch below:

Political satire is a hallmark of Saturday Night Live, and the skit involving Jordan and Trump is just one example of the show’s take on current events and politicians. SNL has a rich history of impersonating political figures, often with a comedic twist. In this case, the skit poked fun at Jordan’s failed attempt to become House Speaker and contrasted his demeanor with the larger-than-life persona of Donald Trump.
