Superman has his best friend. Skyler Gisondo, known for his work on HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, has been cast as Jimmy Olsen in Superman: Legacy. And Lex Luthor has his mistress as Sara Sampiao has been cast as Eve Tesmacher.
Following the resolution of the actors’ strike, the movie has expanded its cast to include two key members of Superman’s supporting ensemble.
Gisondo will play the iconic, youthful and ambitious photographer at The Daily Planet who collaborates with Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Alongside him, Sampaio, the renowned Portuguese model recognized for her work with Victoria’s Secret, will portray the assistant and sometimes mistress to the iconic villain Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult in this adaptation.
These additions join the already confirmed leads, with David Corenswet portraying Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. The end of the actors’ strike has paved the way for the film to commence shooting early next year, adhering to its scheduled release date of July 11, 2025.

The character of Jimmy Olsen has been portrayed by various actors throughout the years, including Jack Larson in the 1950s TV show Adventures of Superman, Marc McClure in 1978’s Superman and its sequels, Sam Huntington in 2006’s Superman Returns, and Michael Cassidy in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016).
Eve Teschmacher, not originating from comic books but introduced in Richard Donner’s Superman, was portrayed by Valerie Perrine in the original film.
The film holds significant importance as it is set to launch a new DC universe under the guidance of James Gunn and his co-head at DC Studios, James Safran. Gunn, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the iconic superhero franchise.
Gisondo, also recognized for his role in Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart, brings superhero experience to the table, having played Howard Stacy in the Andrew Garfield-led Amazing Spider-Man films.
Filming is scheduled to begin early next year.
