Naperville-based, Chervon, one of the world’s top 10 manufacturers of power tools, outdoor power equipment and related products, has named The Escape Pod as AOR for its SKIL and SKILSAW brands. Chervon is looking to The Escape Pod to amplify both brands through an integrated campaign which will include broadcast, radio, digital, social and experiential.
The AOR appointment builds upon the successful partnership between Chervon and The Escape Pod in launching the EGO Power+ line of Lithium-Ion battery-powered outdoor equipment to the number one spot in the category in two years.
“Whether launching entirely new brands like EGO or reenergizing legacy brands, The Escape Pod creates advertising that is both exciting and more importantly, effective. Their creativity brings a level of gravitas that has moved the needle on our business. We have the utmost confidence in their ability to help us grow the legendary SKIL and SKILSAW brands,” said Joe Turoff, CMO at Chervon.
For the past two decades, Chervon has been at the forefront of power tool and outdoor power equipment innovation.
The company was the first in the world to mount lasers to portable power tools in 2003. Later they purchased FLEX, the inventor of the angle grinder based in Stuttgart, Germany, and in 2014, launched the first high capacity Lithium-Ion battery-driven outdoor power equipment line, EGO.
In 2017, Chervon purchased the SKIL and SKILSAW businesses in the North American and European markets from Bosch Tools.
Norm Bilow, Managing Director and Co-founder of Escape Pod added, “Through our experience working on the EGO brand, we have seen firsthand how Chervon’s commitment to innovation through amazing design and cutting-edge technology has resulted in market-leading products. At the core, we simply told that story and brought their brand proposition to life in the most dramatic manner possible—and now EGO is the number one brand in its category. It’s incredibly satisfying as a creative agency to see that our work is not only beautiful but also helping drive our client’s business. We’re really excited to apply that same passion to the SKIL and SKILSAW brands.”
72andSunny in good hands with Allstate?
Is mayhem striking Leo Burnett? According to Agency Spy, Northbrook-based insurance giant Allstate has quietly begun working with Los Angeles-based 72andSunny on unspecified creative projects.
Allstate, which is the largest publicly held insurance company in the U.S. and trails only State Farm in annual revenues, has been working with Leo for 60 years. The agency first turned a manager’s impromptu slogan “You’re in good hands” into a TV spot back in 1957.
The precise nature of the reported relationship and the projects in question is unclear at this time, as is the effect they might have on AOR Burnett.
A spokesperson for Allstate said that Leo Burnett remains the company’s creative agency of record while noting that it regularly works with other shops.
