SixTwentySix has added a new talent to its roster by signing Evan Bourque, an award-winning commercial and film director, for U.S. representation. Bourque, known for his work on projects for major brands like Geico, Squarespace, and Lululemon, brings his signature blend of humor and visual storytelling to SixTwentySix, enhancing the studio’s innovative offerings.
Bourque’s Journey and Creative Style
Bourque hails from Western Canada, with a varied background and a non-traditional path to filmmaking. Before discovering his passion for directing, he explored different degrees and career paths. His journey into filmmaking began with shooting skateboarding videos and evolved into creating commercials that stand out for their humor, style, and originality.
His work is defined by a collaborative and lighthearted approach, which he describes as infusing humor into visually compelling narratives. Bourque has earned industry recognition for this distinctive style, aiming to craft commercials and projects that not only look great but also resonate with an unexpected sense of humor. His attention to detail and keen eye for casting actors make his work both sincere and entertaining.
He shared with Reel 360 News, “I’ve become more confident in my style of directing. When I first started out, I would test the waters of different styles and tones of filmmaking, but over the years, I’ve found a lane and voice that I’m proud of.”
Partnership with SixTwentySix
Bourque was drawn to SixTwentySix for its passionate team and history of building a reputable creative studio from the ground up. The company was founded by partners Austin Barbera and Jake Krask, who have driven SixTwentySix to consistently produce high-caliber work. Bourque hopes to contribute his creative voice to the already impressive lineup.
“I hope my work is known for having a unique, unexpected sense of humor while looking really good,” says Bourque. “The most rewarding part of directing commercials or any project is seeing the final piece and releasing it into the world after all the weeks or months of pre-production. It’s rewarding to see the results of all that effort.”
On his decision to join SixTwentySix, Bourque remarks, “Hearing about how Austin and Jake built SixTwentySix from the ground up to where they are now was really inspiring to me. Everyone I’ve met there is so passionate about what they do; they consistently put out work that sets the bar high and keeps me motivated. I’m excited to join the roster and add my voice to the mix, I hope my work is known for having a unique, unexpected sense of humor while looking really good,” adds Bourque.
