Sinners leads 98th Oscar nominations with 16

OSCARS

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences officially announced the nominations for the 98th Academy Awards on Thursday morning, with Oscar nominee Danielle Brooks and actor Lewis Pullman unveiling the contenders live from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

This year’s Oscar nominations were announced in two waves beginning at 5:30 a.m. PT, with ballots submitted by Academy members across 88 countries. Twenty-four categories will be awarded, with Best Picture featuring 10 nominees. Final voting opens February 26 and closes March 5, 2026.

Close behind is One Battle After Another with 13 nominations, giving Warner Bros. a commanding presence across the board.

The next tier reflects the continued strength of prestige distributors and streamers. Frankenstein from Netflix, Marty Supreme from A24, and Sentimental Value from Neon each earned nine nominations, while Hamnet followed closely with eight nominations for Focus Features.
