SellaV unleashes seduction and match points in Tennis Date

In a playful exploration of love, desire, and match points, female-owned Merman director Eva Michon serves up “The Tennis Date,” a tantalizing short film introducing the innovative sellaV brand of high-end tennis skirts.

Crafted by designer and artist Kaylie Schiff, the film weaves a flirtatious storyline around a tennis player, portrayed by actress Charlet Duboc, on a quest for love through the medium of tennis matches.

The film follows the protagonist’s journey as she engages in spirited tennis matches, testing the mettle of a series of opponents with skillful topspins and backhanders. The narrative unfolds with a wry and sometimes cold-blooded voiceover, offering sharp commentary on her potential suitors. In an era dominated by dating apps, “The Tennis Date” presents a romantic alternative, with the protagonist noting, “that dance on the court, it’s sexy, also brutal, tender, sweet.” Watch the courtship below:

Michon emphasized, “This is not a typical commercial. It is meant to get people excited about this new brand, deliver a sense of the character of the brand, but also not give everything away. There is mystery, playfulness, and of course, sex appeal.”

Conceived and written by Kaylie Schiff in collaboration with director Eva Michon, the film seamlessly captures the balletic beauty of tennis, featuring slow-motion sequences set to the voluptuous score of Emile Waldteufel’s 1882 composition Les Paniteurs (The Skater’s Waltz). The film not only promotes sellaV’s line of tailored skirts, designed to be versatile on and off the court, but also serves as an ode to Schiff’s mother, who imparted both tennis skills and life lessons.

Schiff, reflecting on the film’s inspiration, added, “The story is based on real life. I love tennis. I was raised on it, and I actually did go on tennis dates for a period, because I couldn’t relate to the modern dating scene. So that was the inspiration. Also, truth be told, the film is a teaser for a TV series project I’ve been developing based on the same idea. So stay tuned.”
