SAG-AFTRA has reached a tentative agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) on a successor to its 2023 TV/Theatrical contract.

The union announced Sunday that negotiations concluded over the weekend, with the SAG-AFTRA National Board set to review the proposed agreement during a special meeting on May 11.

As is customary, specific details of the agreement will not be released publicly until after the board has reviewed and approved the deal.

The bargaining process began in December 2025 with member participation in the union’s W&W process and Negotiating Committee Plenary sessions. Formal negotiations officially opened on February 9 before pausing temporarily while the Writers Guild of America completed its own negotiations with the AMPTP.

Talks resumed on April 27, ultimately resulting in a tentative agreement on May 2.

The agreement will next move to SAG-AFTRA members for a ratification vote following board approval. The union said additional details about informational meetings and voting materials will be distributed during the ratification process.

In its statement, SAG-AFTRA thanked the TV/Theatrical/Streaming Negotiating Committee and union staff for their efforts in securing the deal.

The agreement arrives at a critical time for Hollywood as the entertainment industry continues to navigate production slowdowns, evolving streaming economics, artificial intelligence concerns and ongoing labor tensions following the historic strikes of recent years.
