Ruben Latre shoots entire Candleosophy at his home

(Latre completed entire spot at his Conn. home)

Director/DP Ruben Latre of New York-based Hostage Films  has filmed commercial and documentary projects worldwide, from large-scale shoots to nimble endeavors. With social distancing rules in effect, Latre has embraced the many facets of creativity he enjoys – filming, designing, and editing – all done at his home in Connecticut.  His latest spot for Candleosophy, showcases some of his in-house capabilities to create new content without cast or crew.

A meditation candle company, Candleosophy’s mission is to bring soothing, healing energy to the world. The spot, created for digital and social networks, embodies the company’s ethos through macro shots of organic imagery, layered with subtle text, stylized design treatment and a tranquil music track.

Like most creatives, Latre is accustomed to utilizing the full skill set of his production team; as he did recently in Milan, filming an upcoming broadcast campaign for Lindt. It’s something he hopes the industry can return to soon. In the interim, he is dedicated to developing solutions for agencies, clients and brands, harnessing every tool available while staying home.
