Riverdale stars dress up as Gotham City Sirens for Halloween

While Gotham City Sirens may have been relegated to the realms of unmade superhero films, the characters still resonate in the minds of fans.

A recent Halloween stunt by Riverdale stars Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and Lili Reinhart has once again brought these formidable anti-heroes into the spotlight.

Riverdale stars Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and Lili Reinhart decided to give fans a taste of what could have been by donning stunning Halloween costumes, each portraying their respective takes on these iconic DC characters.

Mendes, known for her work in Palm Springs and a Teen Choice Awards winner, is a convincing Poison Ivy.

Petsch, a social media sensation who will soon lead the remake of the Strangers franchise, brings Catwoman to life with her striking costume. Reinhart, recognized for her roles in films like Hustlers and Charlie’s Angels, takes on the role of Harley Quinn with her signature style.

As hot as their costumes are – and they are hot – one has to wonder if Mendes, Petsch, and Reinhart broke the SAG-AFTRA rules of not dressing up as IP characters.

Originally, Gotham City Sirens was slated to spotlight Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn alongside Poison Ivy and Catwoman. However, it appears that the project fell apart somewhere along the line. This can be partly attributed to the negative response to Suicide Squad, as well as Warner Bros. substantially altering David Ayer’s vision for Task Force X in post-production. Ayer himself has expressed hope for a #ReleaseTheAyerCut movement, but that’s a story for another day.

Gotham City Sirens transformed into Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, a film that had mixed reception, to say the least. Given this, fans have been left to imagine what the original project could have been.

As far as Harley Quinn, we will see her next year portrayed by Lady Gaga in Elseworld’s Joker: Folie à Deux. However, whether James Gunn has plans for Selina Kyle and Pamela Isley (Catwoman and Poison Ivy, respectively) is yet to be seen.

Selina Kyle is already part of Matt Reeves’ The Batman franchise, but that doesn’t necessarily rule out her involvement in the DCEU, especially with Gunn at the helm.

The DCEU boasts a range of female-led projects in the pipeline, including Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Wonder Woman series set in Themyscira and another featuring Justice League thorn-in-the-side Amanda Waller.
