Video shot over two days in Northern England at Castle Howard was one of the many locations in Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon

Durable Goods director Ben Chappell teamed up with longtime collaborator Aaron Brown to put a spin on reality in a surreal music video for English rock band’s Arctic Monkeys’ first single Four Out of Five, from their recently debuted album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

The much-anticipated video, which has garnered over 4 million views in less than 48 hours, follows lead singer Alex Turner as he strolls the corridors of a palatial home, photographs a black stallion and appears mysteriously in an orange underground tunnel.

The 70s cinema-inspired visual approach fuses vintage opulence with eye-catching cinematography, creating an unexpected, yet tantalising, forward motion to the piece. Often shooting in one-point perspective, Chappell infuses a twisted reality throughout the video alternating Turner between two versions of himself. Take a look below:

The video was shot over two days in Northern England at Castle Howard, one of the many locations in Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon. In addition to the music video, Ben has been working closely with the band on the media campaign for the new record, contributing photography for the album art as well as teaser videos leading up to the album release.

This video adds to Chappell’s growing slate of video projects for top artists including Miley Cyrus, Rick Ross, Nas, Miranda Lambert, The Beach Boys, among others. He is represented for commercials and branded content by Venice, CA-based production company Durable Goods.
