Will Academy Award nominee, Sylvester Stallone deliver another knockout movie with Creed II? The exciting trailer seems to reaffirm his proficiency in writing and story telling. After an Academy Award nomination for Creed and 3 wins for the original Rocky, this franchise is expected to produce a hard hitting emotional sequel to continue the Rocky Saga.

Written by Sylvester Stallone and Cheo Hodari Cocker (Luke Cage) and directed by Steven Caple Jr, Creed II stars Michael B Jordan (Black Panther) returning to his role as Adonis Johnson, son of Apollo Creed. Sylvester Stallone also returns to his role as Rocky Balboa who trains Adonis to fight against Victor Drago (Florian Munteanu), son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) who killed his father, Apollo all those years ago. Watch the trailer below:

Tessa Thompson is having quite a year and she keeps up her momentum by stepping back into her role as Bianca, Adonis’ love interest while Phylicia Rashad also returns to her role as Mary Anne Creed, his mother. The film also stars Wood Harris as Tony “little Duke” Burton, Andre Ward as Danny “Stuntman” Wheeler, and Russell Hornsby as Buddy Marcelle. Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) maintains his connection to the film franchise as executive producer.

Here’s the official synopsis from MGM:

Life has become a balancing act for Adonis Creed. Between personal obligations and training for his next big fight, he is up against the challenge of his life. Facing an opponent with ties to his family’s past only intensifies his impending battle in the ring. Rocky Balboa is there by his side through it all and, together, Rocky and Adonis will confront their shared legacy, question what’s worth fighting for, and discover that nothing’s more important than family. Creed II is about going back to basics to rediscover what made you a champion in the first place, and remembering that, no matter where you go, you can’t escape your history.

Creed II hits theaters November 21, 2018.
