Brie Larson arrives as Captain Marvel in first trailer

The first trailer for Marvel’s Captain Marvel arrived this morning and I have to say, I’m a little iffy about the Brie Larson trailer.

Back off Marvel fanboys.

Just like everyone else, I’ve been looking forward to seeing Brie Larson in costume since it was announced she would star as the universe’s most powerful hero, Carol Danvers.

As promised, the first trailer for Captain Marvel debuted on Good Morning America today and all of the action is certainly there. We quickly learn that Carol Danvers has returned to Earth with no memory of her past life. Did the alien race Kree brainwash her? Did the Skrulls?

There are also snippets of the Kree invasion of Earth and glimpses of Hala. Throw in young Nick Fury (with two eyes) and Agent Coulson (with hair) and this is beyond awesome.

The highlight, however, has to be seeing Carol don her mask from the comic books and if you look closely, it definitely appears as if she has the mohawk, too.

However, I don’t know if I am superheroed out. Or if Infinity War took my breath away and I’m still catching it. I just feel that Larson’s delivery of her lines felt somewhat flat. The CGI obviously still needs work and I was left with a feeling of meh. Watch the trailer below and form your own opinion:

What do you guys think of this first trailer? Share your thoughts on that in the comments section. Oh, and as an added treat, here is the first poster for the film!

Set in the mid-1990s, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy’s mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds.

The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson as a younger version of Nick Fury (no eye patch!), Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull leader Talos, Clark Gregg as a rookie version of Coulson, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau (paving the way for Monica in present-day), the return of both Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou as Ronan and Korath respectively, and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva. Jude Law will also star as a mentor for Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2019.
