Here we go. That MAGA hat wearing rapper, Kanye West, has announced that he will make a run for the presidency, just four months before election day. The Chicago native has sparked talk before about occupying the White House, most recently saying he planned to run in 2024.

The 21-time Grammy winner celebrated Independence Day by revealing his plans on Twitter, tweeting yesterday: ‘We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.’

West’s announcement was immediately met with with mixed reactions ranging from eye rolling skepticism to excitement. It’s speculated that West, who has been a loyal Donald Trump supporter, could be entering the race to help his “friend,” by possibly taking away young and Black votes from presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden.

But now, billionaire Elon Musk has thrown his “Full support” behind West.

Wife Kim Kardashian said a lot, without saying much at all. She simply tweeted an American Flag emoji in response to her husband’s tweet.

The odds of West being elected are slim to ridiculous, but would have thought Donald Trump would have been elected four years ago.

With Musk’s support, online bookmakers cut West’s odds of winning the election from 500/1 to 50/1.  The new odds indicate his implied probability of winning the election has increased from 0.2 percent to two percent.

Incumbent Republican President Donald Trump odds are at seven to four and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden at eight to 11, according to OddsChecker.com.

It is unclear if West has filed any official paperwork to appear on state election ballots this year – or which political party he would be running for.

No reaction from the current President on his buddy’s announcement. We assume West buddy Candace Owens will join him as his VP.
