Public Record signs director Zoé Salicrup Junco

Brooklyn-based production and entertainment company Public Record has tapped film and commercial director Zoé Salicrup Junco for her first official US commercial representation. 

Devoting her filmmaking career to unpacking the humanity of underrepresented communities, she crafts relatable works prioritizing compelling storytelling, diverse casting, and a visual style rooted in authenticity. Her accessible, yet emotionally raw projects quickly garnered the attention of brands including Herschel, Sony, American Girl, ESPN and Bausch & Lomb, and film festivals such as Tribeca, Palm Springs, Clermont Ferrand, HBO NY Latino Film Festival, Urbanworld, and NALIP Latino Media Fest. 

Most recently, her short film Marisol earned the coveted HuffPost Social Impact Award and was acquired by HBO. Her inaugural NYU Tisch School of the Arts thesis film “Gabi” skyrocketed her career, exposing her to film and commercial directing opportunities and earning multiple accolades including the King Screenwriting Award, the Wasserman Directing Award, the National Board of Review Student Grant, and recognition in The Independent Magazine’s “Top 10 Filmmakers to Watch” list.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Zoé turned to ballet as her first creative outlet and spent her entire childhood as a practicing dancer, which quickly turned to a choreography focus. When college application season rolled around, she connected the dots between directing dancers on the stage versus actors on a film set and chose to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a minor in Producing.

Following the rocket-launch success of “Gabi”, she accepted commercial projects to hone her craft and establish lasting relationships with top brands including Sony–her primary segué between the film and commercial space–Herschel, HBO, PWC, American Girl, and many others. Zoé currently has several feature-length projects in development.

Zoé’s signing fortifies rapid growth for the studio as they expand further into television and film entertainment enterprises, having recently added Amanda Roth as Business Manager and Shanice Brette as Director of Design & Development.

Recent projects include the Roku doc series “The Fix”, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, and Public Record partner Jeremiah Zagar’s new film Hustle which lands on Netflix in June starring Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, NBA Stars Juancho Hernangomez & Anthony Edwards, Robert Duvall, and Ben Foster.
