During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Prime Video premiered an exclusive trailer for the highly anticipated second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, along with over a dozen cast members, revealed never-before-seen footage featuring legendary Rings, magical creatures, intense battles, and the growing influence of the Dark Lord Sauron.

The new season will premiere on Prime Video on August 29, 2024.

Hosted in the iconic Hall H, the event was moderated by Emmy-nominated actress Yvette Nicole Brown. The cast included Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Maxim Baldry, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, and many more.

Sauron, now without an army or ally, must rely on his cunning to regain power and create the Rings of Power to bind Middle-earth to his will. As darkness rises, characters from all races—Elves, dwarves, orcs, men, wizards, and Harfoots—face escalating challenges, threatening the fragile peace. Friendships will be tested, and kingdoms will teeter on the edge of calamity.

The trailer emphasized Sauron’s return and his efforts to create the Rings of Power, spreading darkness across Middle-earth. We get glimpses of various fantastical creatures like a young Shelob, Barrow-wights, Hill-troll Damrod, a Sea Worm, and Ents. The trailer also teased several significant battle scenes. Watch below:
