Filmmaker Danny A. Abeckaser has announced the digital release of his new feature film 12 Hours in October, arriving January 6, 2026, following its theatrical debut on December 14, 2025. The release coincided with the anniversary of the October 7 Nova Music Festival attack in Israel.
A visceral, character-driven drama, 12 Hours in October chronicles the first twelve hours of that day, offering an urgent and deeply human perspective on events that shocked the world. Conceived as both a narrative feature and an educational tool, the film aims to foster conversation, remembrance, and understanding for audiences worldwide.
Beginning January 6, the film will be available on major digital and on-demand platforms, including Amazon Prime, iTunes, Apple TV, Pay Per View, and additional VOD outlets.
Inspired by the real events of October 7, 2023, 12 Hours in October follows four intersecting perspectives as lives are upended during the attack’s opening hours. The film combines meticulous recreation with powerful performances to serve as a cinematic record, a tribute to those affected, and a reflection on the personal cost of violence.
Although grounded in real events, the film uses minimal archival footage, approximately four seconds in the trailer and about three minutes in the feature. The remainder is fully scripted, shot, and recreated material, allowing the filmmakers to present the story with chilling realism while protecting those directly impacted and maintaining a cohesive cinematic experience.
Written by Kosta Kondilopoulos, the story unfolds across separate yet converging lives. At a desert music festival, Talia and Barak celebrate their engagement. Nearby, Gabi and his wife Maya reconcile after learning they are expecting a child.
Elsewhere, Ariel, a mother of two, enjoys a quiet morning as her children sleep. At the same time, two Palestinian brothers, Nabil and Malik, prepare for an operation that will irrevocably change all of their lives. When rockets tear through the sky and sirens sound, each character is thrust onto a new path and not all will survive. Watch the trailer below:
“Once I decided to make this film, I understood I had to shoot it on location where it happened,” said Abeckaser. “I knew I was making the most important film of my life and wanted to be accurate to what occurred in those first twelve hours. Many of the actors and extras were personally affected. We had psychologists and psychiatrists on set daily to support everyone. This film follows four perspectives and is told from both sides. It was important to tell this story and do it justice.”
The film features a standout ensemble including Doron Ben David, Yaakov Zada, Marina Maximilian Blumin, Ariel Yagen, Montana Tucker in a breakout role, Hadar Shitrit, Herzl Tobey, and Chanel Omari.
12 Hours in October is directed and produced by Danny A. Abeckaser through 2B Films. Executive producers include Ilan Portal, Perry Hiiman, Maor Benshushan, Mosha Ziv, Emil Fish, and Jennifer Dryan Smorgon. The original score is composed by Lionel Cohen
January 6 is coming fast. This one is not easy to watch, but it is necessary to watch.
