One Club issues statement on Black Lives Matter

(Creative Org issues statement on racism and police brutality)

Triggered by the brutal death of George Floyd at the hands of four Minneapolis policemen and the global outrage that has followed, The One Club for Creativity, its  Board of Directors and Staff issues the following statement:

“The brutal and inequitable treatment of black people is not new, and must stop.

The recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, and so many others throughout history that were not filmed are why we say emphatically that ‘Black Lives Matter’, and stand in solidarity with all those who protest against police violence, racism, and discrimination.

We also realise that standing in this moment is not enough; we need action. The One Club for Creativity Board and Staff have taken action by financially supporting the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. We will also continue to help support, build, and grow the black creative community.

This is the moment, an opportunity for real change against an injustice that has survived for way too long. “
