Nomad adds editor Zoë Mountain to team

Nomad, the award-winning creative editorial and VFX company, is strengthening its team by welcoming VMA-nominated editor Zoë Mountain, following its successful year featuring Senior Executive Producer Alaina Zanotti and editor Raj Ramnauth.

Mountain has earned recognition for her influential work on music videos, including Scandalous by Gryffin and Tinashe, as well as Love Again by The Kid Laroi.

Her diverse portfolio also includes notable commercial and editorial projects, such as Glamour Magazine’s Woman of the Year photoshoot featuring poet Amanda Gorman and campaigns for brands like Calirosa Tequila.

Zoë’s editing work on Demi Lovato’s Swine music video, which tackles abortion rights and features queer and trans individuals, has earned her a VMA nomination, with over 1 million YouTube views. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Zoë was particularly enthusiastic about contributing her talents to a project with such a significant message.

Senior Executive Producer Alaina Zanotti expressed her belief that Zoë’s personality and skills make her an excellent fit for the Nomad team, stating, “From the moment I met her, there was something undeniably infectious about Zoë, and I knew I wanted her to be part of the team. There’s something so electric and compelling in her work, and I look forward to being a part of her flourishing career.”

Mountain is primarily self-taught in editing and shooting, with a background in documentary film. Her journey to becoming an accomplished editor involved taking on a wide range of projects and building valuable industry relationships. Mentorship from Chaz Smedley of Eddy Street Post in 2021 marked a turning point in her career, leading to opportunities with higher-profile clients and productions.

Reflecting on her path, Zoë shared, “Freelancing forced me to be mindful of the balance between my hustle and my purpose. Starting with no experience and no connections, I leaned on my community to get my first opportunities. The first half of those eight years were spent working with other dancers, artists, queer folks, friends, and family.”

Over the years, her editing style and approach have evolved, emphasizing intentionality and alignment with projects that resonate with her. She no longer settles for edits or shots that don’t feel right and prioritizes her creative vision.

Zoë has worked on a variety of projects, including music videos, editorial content, and commercials, recognizing the increasing overlap between these categories. She appreciates the diverse problem-solving required in each area and values the opportunity to engage with different creative worlds and the people who drive them.

Joining Nomad marks a pivotal moment in Zoë’s career. The decision to transition to commercial work aligns with her aspirations, and after meeting the Nomad team and experiencing their supportive work environment, it became an easy choice for her.

Nomad Editor and Partner Conor O’Neill expressed his excitement about Zoë’s arrival, saying, “We are super happy to have Zoë as a new addition to the Nomad family. Zoë is a great editor, with a natural feel for storytelling and an excellent visual sensibility. She truly loves the craft of editing and is excited to further hone her skills and expand her repertoire here with us at Nomad.”
