Nike champions women footballers in new campaign

Nike has launched its latest campaign, “What The Football,” ahead of this summer’s historic tournament. The campaign aims to celebrate female footballers from around the world who are making a difference in the game and inspiring others through the power of sport.

With a focus on growing women’s sports and redefining the athlete partnership model, Nike aims to better listen to athletes, serve them holistically, and collaborate with them to create positive change through sport.

The campaign features 11 renowned footballers who are Nike athletes: Ada Hegerberg, Alex Morgan, Asisat Oshoala, Chloe Kelly, Debinha, Grace Geyoro, Kadeisha Buchanan, Megan Rapinoe, Sam Kerr, Sophia Smith, and Wang Shuang. Individual episodic films of these football heroes have also been released on the Nike Football YouTube page.

It opens with a father and daughter watching the iconic 1999 Brandi Chastain penalty kick, with the world title at stake. The film showcases the excitement and drama of the sport and captures the infectious fun of this summer’s global tournament, which is highly anticipated across multiple generations. Watch below:
