
The NAACP continued its celebration of Black excellence Thursday night with the 57th NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors, recognizing achievements across film, television, documentary and digital media. The ceremony, hosted by Kevin “KevOnStage” Fredericks and Angel Laketa Moore, honored winners in 25 categories.
Ryan Coogler earned Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture and Outstanding Directing in a Motion Picture for Sinners, while the film also saw Delroy Lindo and Wunmi Mosaku win supporting acting honors. Straw and Abbott Elementary were among the night’s television standouts, with Taraji P. Henson, Janelle James and William Stanford Davis taking acting awards. Abbott Elementary won Outstanding Comedy Series, while Reasonable Doubt claimed Outstanding Drama Series.
The Jennifer Hudson Show was named Outstanding Talk Series, and Don Lemon won Outstanding Host while The Don Lemon Show also received Outstanding News/Information. Zootopia 2 won Outstanding Animated Motion Picture.
Special honors were also presented during the evening. Rev. Dr. Jamal-Harrison Bryant received the Mildred Bond Roxborough Social Justice Impact Award, recognizing his leadership and advocacy work. Dr. Mary Anne Franks was honored with the NAACP-Archewell Digital Civil Rights Award in a video presentation from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The evening included a musical tribute honoring Angie Stone and D’Angelo, performed by Jane Handcock and BJ The Chicago Kid, followed by a performance from Mali Music.
Additional winners included Sterling K. Brown for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Cedric The Entertainer for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series, Tyler Lepley for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series, and Tee Sanders and Lynae Vanee in the digital creator categories.
Winners in the remaining categories will be revealed during the 57th NAACP Image Awards telecast, airing live Saturday, February 28 at 8 PM ET/PT on BET and simulcast on CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
The NAACP Image Awards remain one of the most prominent celebrations of Black achievement in entertainment and culture, spotlighting artists and leaders whose work advances equality, justice and representation across industries.
