As winter takes its last swings of the season in many parts of the country, South Florida stands out as the place where you can do “the stuff you wanna do.” And as multi-platinum-selling recording artist Luis Fonsi explains, Ford SUVs are “perfect for South Florida.”

The campaign, called “Life with Luis,” was created by Dearborn, MI-based GTB, produced by Easy Mondays, and directed by LOBOS (the team comprising director/dps Carmelo Varela and Andrew Garcia). It is airing now.

“Meeting Fonsi was natural, he had the energy of a superstar but also maintained a cool ready-to-work attitude,” said LOBOS of the singer, who has had several No. 1 songs, including his record-breaking global hit “Despacito,” which earned seven Guinness World Records and, at 8.1B views, is still one of the most-viewed videos in YouTube’s history. “The day was packed with shots so we were introduced and immediately got to work shooting some social segments before jumping into the main set. We figured this would be a good way to break the ice and run some playable actions with the various cars.” Fonsi, who is also an actor and presenter, “respected us and the direction given to him. He offered many areas for collaboration, always ready to do another take or variation if needed,” Varela recalled. “By the end of the day, we were pretty exhausted but blazed through all of the shots. It was an amazing shoot, definitely one for the books.”

This was LOBOS’ first time working with the agency, GTB. “The entire team was a pleasure to work with. They were very clear on what they wanted from the project and Luis Fonsi, but gave us lots of creative freedom as directors to explore different shooting styles and run with ideas,” said LOBOS.

The project marks a return to Miami for the filmmakers. “I love being able to come back home and shoot in Miami,” Garcia said. “It’s a place where I always feel creatively revitalized.” The director shot his narrative project “Tumba Del Mar” in Miami last year and it premiered at the 2023 Miami Film Festival.
