Leslie Linka Glatter re-elected DGA President

Lesli Linka Glatter has been re-elected as the President of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) during the Guild’s Biennial National Convention held in Los Angeles. The announcement was made after she was elected by acclamation by the delegates at the convention.

In addition to Glatter’s re-election, 164 delegates representing over 19,500 members of the DGA elected a new slate of officers and members of the National Board of Directors.

Upon her re-election, Glatter expressed her honor at serving as the President of the Directors Guild of America once again. “I am honored to once again accept the responsibility of serving as President of the Directors Guild of America,” said Glatter. “At this critical time for our industry, I am more committed than ever to our Guild’s mission of protecting the creative and economic rights of our members and working collaboratively both internally and externally on the issues affecting us all. As we embark on the next chapter of our Guild, I’m elated to work alongside an incredibly talented, creative and diverse Board, all of whom generously volunteer their time to advocate for their fellow members and do their part in building an industry where everyone can thrive. As a union, our power comes from our unity — and I am thrilled to say we are as strong and united as ever before. Together, we will continue our shared fight — along with SAG-AFTRA and the WGA — for an industry in which we are all fairly valued and celebrated for the work we do.”

Glatter has been actively involved with the DGA for many years, serving on the Guild’s National Board since 2003, previously as First Vice-President and Fifth Vice-President. She has been part of past Negotiating Committees and, as President, worked on achieving significant gains on various issues impacting all members, including wages, global streaming residuals, safety, diversity, and television creative rights. Glatter’s dedication to the Guild and its members spans two decades, and she joined the DGA in 1985.

As a renowned director in film and television, Glatter’s impressive body of work includes TV shows like The Morning Show, Homeland, The Newsroom, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, and The West Wing, among others. She has also directed multiple pilots, such as Gilmore Girls and Pretty Little Liars. In addition to television, Glatter has directed films like Now and Then, The Proposition, and State of Emergency.

Aside from her work in directing, Glatter is an advisor at the Sundance Institute’s Director’s Lab and is committed to mentoring, playing a key role in developing the successful NBC program Female Forward. Over the years, she has received numerous accolades and awards, including DGA Awards, Emmy nominations, the Caucus Foundation Award, the Dorothy Arzner Directing Award from Women in Film, and the Franklin Schaffner Award from the American Film Institute. She holds an Honorary Degree from the American Film Institute.
