Sleep-tech brand Hatch is getting spooky-season clever with Goodnight, Phone, a horror-style faux trailer starring Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Longlegs) that reminds you the scariest thing in your bedroom might be the glow in your hand.
Shipka plays Ava, newly moved into a quiet house where late-night scrolling is her comfort… until her feed starts feeding back. Posts bleed into reality, faces watch from the glass, and even her reflection turns against her. The one thing in the room that doesn’t answer to the algorithm? The calm, steady glow of her partner’s Hatch smart sleep clock on the nightstand. Watch below:
Directed by Meredith Alloway (Forbidden Fruits) with an unnerving score by Ariel Marx (Black Mirror, Shiva Baby), the spot co-stars Jake Cannavale (The Offer) and nails that modern dread of “just one more swipe” morphing into a full-on haunting. It plays like a trailer drop for a film you’d line up to see—because that’s precisely the point.
Goodnight, Phone is rolling out online and on the big screen, with placements in select AMC and Cinemark theaters starting today. The piece tees up Hatch’s new Restore 3, a phone-free smart sleep device designed to kick screens out of the bedroom and bring routines back to life with light, sound, and tactile controls—no doom-scroll required.
Smart brand move, sharp filmmaking: a PSA for better sleep disguised as a horror tease you’ll want to share (before, y’know, putting the phone away).
