Josh Hurley, former Deutsch, FCB Creative passes

Advertising Creative Director, Josh Hurley

Sad news from the west coast. Los Angeles-based CNVYR Chief Creative Officer and Partner, Josh Hurley, passed away suddenly Sunday night in Michigan. No cause of death was given as an investigation is ongoing. Josh was 39.

Most recently, Josh was in the news for partnering with former Deutsch LA CD, Travis Swingler to launch creative/tech shop CNVYR last year. Prior, Hurley was a Creative Director at Deutsch LA, working on Taco Bell.

Josh became a name in Chicago, doing award-winning stints at Fusion 92 and FCB Chicago working on on Kmart, Valspar, DiGiorno, The Shelter Pet Project and Michelob Ultra (including Super Bowl spots featuring Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt).

Friends describe Hurley as a “brilliant advertising creative.” One even took it a step further by telling Reel 360, “The way Josh’s mind worked, he could have been the next Lee Clow.”

UPDATED: Sources say Josh will have funerals in Chicago, New Orleans and Los Angeles.
