John Wick: Chapter 4 opened this weekend and absolutely annihilated the competition at the box office with a whopping $73.5 Million, setting a new box office record for the John Wick franchise.

Much like Ant-man, Scream, Shazam! and Creed, the box office numbers have only increased with each installment of the John Wick franchise. The original John Wick opened in 2014 earning $14.4 million. John Wick: Chapter 2 opened in 2017 earning $30.4 million, and John Wick: Chapter 3 brought in $56.8 million in 2019. One thing’s for certain, movie-goers can’t get enough of Keanu Reeves’ action packed John Wick movies. Critics and viewers are raving about this installment, calling it the best John Wick film to date with an epically high critics score of 94% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with the audience agreeing with a score of 95%.

John Wick 4 effortlessly knocked last week’s number 1, Shazam!: Fury of the Gods right out of the top spot and down to number 2. The Warner Bros. Discovery sequel to the 2019 Shazam! had a 68% drop and brought in $9.7 in domestic ticket sales. To compare with the original Shazam! in 2019, the film earned $24.4 in its second week and held onto the top spot for two weeks.

Paramount’s Scream VI finished in third place with $8.4 million in ticket sales and a drop of 52%, moving down the list from #2 to #3. Creed III also noticed a significant drop of 46% from last week, earning $8.4 million and following suit, moving from #3 to #4 on the top ten list.

Taking the #5 spot, Sony’s 65 is the only film in the top 5 that is NOT a sequel. The Adam Driver sci-fi film dropped from the #4 spot in its third week, earning just $3.3 million with a 44% drop in ticket sales.

In its sixth week in theaters, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has been quietly sliding down the top ten list and has dropped 43% since last weekend, earning $2.4 million for Disney and took the #6 spot on the list.

Believe it or not, Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear is still bringing audiences to the theaters and is currently #7 in its fifth week in theaters. The movie is also available on premium video on demand, but audiences are still flocking to the theaters to see the carnage and hilarity. The Universal film has earned over $62 million so far.

Lionsgate’s Jesus Revolution has dropped 43% and slipped further down the list, taking the #8 spot in its fifth week in theaters, while Woody Harrelson and his Champions slip down from #8 to #9 in their third week in theaters with a 50% drop from last week, earning $1.5 million for the weekend.

The last holdover from last year is STILL on the top ten list! Disney’s Avatar: The Way of Water has been in theaters for 15 weeks and maintained a spot on the top ten list for almost the entire duration. The film has earned $680 over the past 15 weeks and brought in $1.4 this past weekend.
