Pop star Sabrina Carpenter’s Halloween look made quite the impression, and even caught the attention of DC Studios co-chief James Gunn.
During her sold-out Short n’ Spooky Halloween concert at Madison Square Garden on October 31, the Tears singer wowed fans by unveiling a strikingly faithful Wonder Woman costume. Inspired by both Lynda Carter’s 1970s TV version and the Bronze Age comic design, the outfit was so screen-ready it could have easily passed for a movie costume.
One of her backup dancers even joined in the superhero theme as Storm from X-Men, while Carpenter later switched into Flintstones and Barbie-inspired looks throughout the night.
Her spot-on Diana Prince tribute quickly went viral online, but not without a minor mix-up. When Variety posted a video of Carpenter performing, it mistakenly captioned her outfit as “Superwoman.”
That’s when James Gunn stepped in. The filmmaker and DC Studios co-head, clearly amused, replied on Threads with a simple but perfectly timed correction:
“Superwoman?!”
Gunn’s tongue-in-cheek response was all in good fun, and the moment turned into a lighthearted exchange that delighted fans across social media.
For the record, Variety’s caption was just an innocent slip, not a slight against DC’s most iconic heroine. Still, it was an amusing reminder that comic book purists, especially those running the DC universe, don’t let those distinctions slide.
Meanwhile, DC Studios is continuing to expand its cinematic lineup. A new Wonder Woman project is in development, written by Ana Nogueira, who also scripted next year’s Supergirl starring Milly Alcock. Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
And Sabrina, you are a Wonder Woman to Reel 360 News!
