Superman: Legacy narrates Superman’s (Corenswet) odyssey as he grapples with his Kryptonian lineage and his upbringing as Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas. He embodies truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human compassion in a world where kindness is often deemed antiquated.
Corenswet, acclaimed for his role in Netflix’s The Politician, stars as Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan, renowned for her portrayal in Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
Directed by Gunn, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, the film is based on characters from DC, including Superman, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
“Superman: Legacy is the true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe. Not only is Superman an iconic part of DC lore, he is also a favorite character for comic book readers, viewers of earlier movies, and fans around the world,” said Gunn during the DCU slate announcement. “I can’t wait to introduce our version of Superman who audiences will be able to follow and get to know across films, movies, animation and gaming.”
Superman: Legacy will fly into theaters on July 11, 2025.
