WGA West screenwriter Jade Bartlett will bring her magic to script Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for Marvel studios.

According to Rockstar Film School, details of the film are still under wraps, but during the Marvel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said the Doctor Strange sequel will be “the first scary MCU film.” But, Feige joked “It’s gonna be PG-13 and you’re going to like it!”

Marvel and Disney have made no official announcement on this front, but then we wouldn’t expect them to anyway. What we do know about the film is that Scott Derrickson is back to direct, with Cumberbatch starring and Benedict Wong is on board as Wong.

Also part of the cast? Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, whose WandaVision Disney+ series will lead into the movie as part of the MCU’s Phase 4.

Bartlett’s script Miller’s Girl was voted to the 2016 Black List of Hollywood’s best-unproduced screenplays and was optioned by Good Universe for Bartlett to direct and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey banner to produce.

Bartlett is represented by UTA, Heroes and Villains Entertainment and attorney Matthew Wallerstein.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be released on May 7, 2021.
