The International Screenwriters’ Association (ISA) has announced Sari Earl as the Grand Prize Winner of its Table Read My Screenplay: Hollywood competition. Earl’s heartfelt feature dramedy Do Over will be brought to life in a live staged reading at the 2025 American Film Market (AFM), starring Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Rob Morrow (Northern Exposure, Numb3rs, Billions) and directed by Emmy Award winner Drew Ann Rosenberg (Sex and a Girl – Showtime).
Following the reading, Earl will pitch her script live at the AFM Pitch Conference on Saturday morning. She will also be considered for inclusion on the ISA Development Slate, a program that has connected emerging screenwriters to industry heavyweights including Netflix, CAA, ICM Partners, LuckyChap, and Amazon/MGM Studios.
“We built this competition to give exceptional writers like Sari a platform where they can be introduced to industry execs looking for unique voices and emerging talent,” said Craig James, Founder of the ISA. “Sari’s script has heart, humor, and commercial appeal. We’re thrilled to showcase her work at one of the most important film markets in the world.”
About the Winning Script
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Earl is a published author of more than ten books who brings her gift for blending humor and heart to the screen. Do Over is inspired by her father’s battle with ALS and follows an estranged father and daughter on a road trip where secret motives, emotional detours, and a quirky caretaker help them rediscover what it means to be family. The screenplay has drawn comparisons to Little Miss Sunshine for its wit, emotional honesty, and cross-generational appeal.
“Do Over is the most personal thing I’ve ever written,” Earl shared. “I’m grateful to the ISA for this incredible opportunity to share my story at AFM.”
Three Must-Attend AFM Events
ISA will host three major events during AFM 2025, designed to spotlight emerging talent and industry insight:
- Turning Your Logline into a Killer Pitch – A masterclass led by Felicity Wren (VP of Development), Shayna Weber (Creative Executive), and multi-hyphenate Diallo Riddle (South Side, Sherman’s Showcase, Marlon), offering writers strategies to craft and deliver compelling pitches.
- Table Read My Screenplay: Hollywood – Live Staged Reading – Experience Sari Earl’s award-winning script Do Over performed by professional actors, including Rob Morrow, Tu Morrow, RJ Hatanaka, and Siena Goines.
- AFM Pitch Conference – Live Pitch Session – Watch Sari Earl pitch Do Over alongside runner-up Angie Comer, who will present her feature Spitting Fire, in front of industry executives and producers.
TRMS Success Story
The competition has proven to be a launchpad for screenwriting careers. Past winner Annika Pampel was selected for the ISA Development Slate and named a Top 25 Screenwriter to Watch, leading to production partnerships for her script ODIUM with Markeba Media Group and Ardvella Entertainment, with Pampel set to direct.
