House of Film has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the independent sci-fi feature Fugitive from Asteron ahead of the film’s debut at the upcoming Marché du Film during the Festival de Cannes.
Produced by Winged Victory Foundation and directed by Dan T. Hall, the feature blends space-opera adventure with themes of freedom, identity, and survival, positioning itself as an elevated indie sci-fi with a strong emotional core.
The film stars Henry Ian Cusick, Rory Gibson, Morgan Bradley, and Dean Cain, alongside Jamie Stilwell and Jim Krueger.
Adapted from the award-winning novel by Gen LaGreca, the story follows young pilot Arial, played by Gibson, who escapes the authoritarian planet Asteron after stealing a spacecraft from its ruler, Feran, portrayed by Cusick. Landing on a futuristic Earth under a new identity, Arial becomes entangled in a conspiracy tied to mysterious cargo that may determine humanity’s future.
As Feran closes in, Arial teams with pilot Kristin Merrett, played by Bradley, while Dean Cain portrays Mykronie Whitman, a former Asteron fugitive who becomes a mentor figure and ally.
“We are thrilled to partner with House of Film to bring Fugitive from Asteron to audiences worldwide,” said LaGreca, founder of Winged Victory Foundation. “This story has always been deeply personal to me — an interplanetary adventure that also explores freedom, identity, and the courage to rebuild one’s life.”
House of Film CEO Ava B described the project as the kind of “elevated, thought-provoking sci-fi” the company actively seeks out, praising both the film’s visual ambition and emotionally grounded storytelling.
“With a star-driven cast led by Henry Ian Cusick, Rory Gibson, Morgan Bradley, and Dean Cain, the film brings both scale and powerful performances to the screen,” Ava B said.
The project marks another independent sci-fi title looking to carve out space in the international marketplace by combining genre spectacle with more philosophical themes, a lane that continues to resonate with distributors and streaming buyers seeking elevated, concept-driven storytelling.
Behind the camera, the film features cinematography by Mark David, line production from Pauline Jones, and associate producer D. Paul Thomas, with casting handled by Paul Ruddy.
House of Film will screen the project for buyers at Cinema “F” inside the Palais during Cannes market screenings this week.
