Hawkeye: His post-blip past comes back to haunt him in first trailer

Hawkeye
(Hailee Steinfeld, Jeremy Renner)

At the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, we learned that Clint Barton’s family was wiped out after Thanos snapped his fingers while wearing the Infinity Gauntlet. This sent Hawkeye to become the assassin Ronin, who went down a dark path of slicing up underworld leaders like cold cuts.

Now in the amazing first trailer for the new Disney+ Marvel series, Hawkeye, we see that past has come back to haunt Clint and his family.

The trailer re-introduces us to Clint (Jeremy Renner) and his family leading a far simpler life while spending Christmas in New York. All is lovely under the mistletoe (even with a Captain America musical on Broadway) until a new Ronin shows up on the scene and the former Avenger is forced back into action. This is when he meets self-proclaimed “greatest archer,” Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. Watch below:

REELated: Being James Bond: New MGM doc to exclusively stream on Apple TV+

Of course, there is a great poster:

Hawkeye

The series looks like a lot of fun, and has a Die Hard vibe to it, especially taking place during the holidays. Florence Pugh’s Yelena is missing from the trailer, but we know she will show up hunting Clint down for the shady Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

Stockings, presents, mistletoe… exploding arrows? There are going to be more than a few surprises under Clint Barton’s tree this season when Hawkeye premieres November 24.
