Hailee Steinfeld cast as Kate Bishop in ‘Hawkeye’

(Steinfeld joins cast of Hawkeye)

It’s becoming more and more clear that there is a passing of the mantles going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First, Captain America’s Chris Evans passed his shield onto Falcon (Anthony Mackie). In the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, Natalie Portman is said to be wielding Mjölnir instead of Chris Hemsworth. And when Black Widow is eventually released, we will probably see Florence Pugh taking on the mantle from Scarlett Johansson. Now we have video confirmation that Hailee Steinfeld of Bumblebee fame, will be working alongside Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye as Kate Bishop.

Who is Kate Bishop you ask? Well, she is the third character and first female to take the Hawkeye name, after Clint Barton of the Avengers and Wyatt McDonald of the Squadron Supreme. Her costume appearance is patterned on the first Hawkeye and Mockingbird.

A new video from the set of the currently shooting Disney+ limited series was shared online earlier today, and while the footage wasn’t the clearest, it did appear to confirm that Steinfeld actress had indeed joined the cast as Kate Bishop.

A second video has found its way online. The new footage was taken by someone who was able to get closer to the action, and shows Bishop, Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and Lucky the Pizza Dog running down a flight of stairs as they rush to catch the subway.

Marvel has not officially confirmed that Steinfeld has signed on, nor had they confirmed that Hawkeye had begun production. But now there’s video proof.

Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but the limited series is expected to follow the Avenger as he trains his apprentice in order to prepare her to take on the Hawkeye mantle.

A recent rumor has claimed that Black Widow star Florence Pugh is also set to reprise the role of Yelena Belova for the show, but that’s yet to be confirmed.
