Gigi Hadid says Bradley Cooper inspires her red carpet poses

Gigi Hadid says the secret to a great red carpet pose starts with “happy thoughts” and often ends with thoughts of Bradley Cooper.

Speaking during Vogue’s livestream coverage of the Met Gala Monday night, Hadid revealed how both Cooper and her daughter Khai influence the emotions she channels in front of photographers.

“What we do in our job is just go to a happy place,” Hadid explained to hosts Ashley Graham and Cara Delevingne. “Think of happy thoughts and the smile comes through the eyes and it makes you come to life.”

Hadid said her first thought is usually her five-year-old daughter Khai, whom she shares with former partner Zayn Malik, before turning her attention to Cooper.

“First happy thought, Khai my daughter, and then my man,” she said. “When I think about Khai, maybe I’m giving joy. And then I’ll serve something else to Bradley in the camera.”

Delevingne quickly responded: “Bradley, you’re a lucky man.” Although Hadid arrived solo at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cooper later joined her inside the gala. Photos from the evening showed the actor in a classic black suit paired with a white collared shirt.

For her 11th Met Gala appearance, Hadid wore a custom black Miu Miu gown featuring crystal detailing, floral embroidery, and flame-inspired patchwork pulled from different eras of the fashion house’s archive.

The model told Vogue the dress nearly took a different direction after an early concept inspired by Miu Miu’s Spring 2011 collection failed to work as planned. “The patchwork really wasn’t sitting on my body in the way that I anticipated from the sketch,” she explained.

Instead, the team revisited the brand’s Spring 1998 collection and rebuilt the look around a sheer base with hand-placed embroidered patches. “We all sat in a hotel room two days ago literally and Scotch taped the patches onto me,” Hadid said. “It’s built on the body. The body is the canvas.”

Hadid added that the Met Gala remains her favorite fashion event because of its collaborative creativity.

“It makes me feel like we’re all back in high school art class together,” she said.
