GapStudio is back where fashion hits hardest, the stage. For the opening leg of her London tour, rising singer Freya Skye stepped into two custom GapStudio looks that fused nostalgia, edge, and performance-ready attitude during her January 8 and 9 shows at Hoxton Hall.
Designed under the creative direction of Zac Posen, Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Gap Inc., the looks continued GapStudio’s modern remix of archival icons, proving once again that the brand’s legacy pieces are still built to move, sweat, and steal the spotlight.
The first ensemble reimagined Gap’s cult-favorite multicolored Happy Stripe Sweater from the early 2000s. Deconstructed and youthfully distressed, the knit featured deliberate fraying and embellishment, paired effortlessly with classic Gap denim. The result felt lived-in but intentional, equal parts throwback and now, and perfectly tuned to Skye’s energetic stage presence.

The second look leaned into Gap’s ’90s denim DNA, remixing Baggy and classic silhouettes into a relaxed statement fit. Mixed-metal grommets added bite, while the outfit was grounded with a GapStudio Modern Off-Shoulder Top and a structured GapStudio Corset Belt. It was casual rebellion with precision tailoring, a silhouette built for movement without losing its edge.

These London looks follow Skye’s December solo tour stop at New York’s Gramercy Theatre, where GapStudio debuted two earlier custom designs. One centered on a reworked Gap icon denim jacket, updated with a waistband belt detail and paired with baggy ’90s-inspired denim featuring intentional cutouts that revealed Gap logo boxers beneath.

The second transformed a classic rugby shirt into a deconstructed corset, blending sport and structure, worn with ultra-soft baggy jeans cut to reveal plaid Gap-branded boxers for a flash of irreverent cool.

Together, the ongoing collaboration positions GapStudio as more than a fashion label dipping into performance wear. It’s a creative partner for artists who want their clothes to tell a story, reference the past, and still feel fearless on stage. For Freya Skye, the looks read as confidence armor. For GapStudio, it’s a reminder that its archive isn’t just history. It’s fuel.
