Fox Sports analyst and former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was hospitalized early Saturday after an apparent stabbing in downtown Indianapolis. Police say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. near the Statehouse, involved two men, and does not appear to be a random attack. Detectives have reviewed the video and expect to forward the case to the Marion County prosecutor’s office as the investigation continues.
Fox Sports confirmed Sanchez is “recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” adding thanks to the medical team and asking for privacy for Sanchez and his family. He had been in Indianapolis to work Sunday’s Raiders–Colts broadcast at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition. We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that…
Additional reporting from national outlets echoed those details, noting both men involved received medical attention and that Sanchez’s injuries followed what authorities described as an altercation, not a random street crime. As of Saturday afternoon, no further circumstances had been publicly released.
Sanchez, 38, joined Fox’s NFL booth in 2021 after stints with ESPN and ABC. Drafted fifth overall by the New York Jets in 2009, he led New York to back-to-back AFC title games before later playing for the Eagles, Broncos, Cowboys, Bears and Washington. His on-air work has steadily grown in profile, which is part of why he was slated for Sunday’s AFC broadcast in Indianapolis.
For now, Fox has not announced any on-air adjustments tied to Sunday’s game. Local authorities continue to urge patience as investigators sort through evidence from the scene.
