Apple TV+ has released the first look at Season 2 of the acclaimed series Severance, which continues to delve into the intriguing world of Lumon Industries. The new season picks up right where it left off, following Mark (Adam Scott), Dylan (Zach Cherry), Helly (Britt Lower), and Irving (John Turturro) as they navigate their escape from the oppressive corporate environment.

Debuting at the 2024 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, the footage hints at the characters’ attempts to break free from the constraints of their split identities, known as Innies and Outies.

Directed and executive produced by Ben Stiller, Severance has garnered critical acclaim for its portrayal of a dystopian tech company that uses experimental procedures to create separate work identities for its employees. Patricia Arquette stars as the enigmatic Lumon boss who crosses boundaries by surveilling employees outside of work.

New to the cast for Season 2 are Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, and Bob Balaban, adding even more star power to the series. The announcement of the second season came in April 2022, much to the delight of fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter. Watch the teaser below:

Stiller shared insights into his creative process, revealing that he uses his family as a “focus group” for the show’s plotlines. “We have this ongoing debate about spoilers because I’m working now on the scripts and prepping the show,” Stiller said. “And I will want to ask them questions and they’re like, ‘Well, don’t tell us.’ Do you want to know or not? So it’s like an ongoing debate.”

Patricia Arquette has also teased the upcoming season, advising viewers to be “very scared” of what’s to come. “Be scared, very scared,” Arquette told Entertainment Tonight. “No, I think these guys have been working really hard, and come up with a lot of really creative things. They have a whole world in their minds. They just let us in, piece by piece, into what’s going on, but I think it will be fun and beautiful.”

Severance Season 2 promises to continue the thrilling narrative and complex character developments that made the first season a hit. The premiere date has yet to be announced, but fans can expect it to be part of the Apple TV+ lineup soon.
