Expanded group of studio heads meet with SAG-AFTRA

As the SAG-AFTRA strike reaches its 114th day, negotiations between the union and the studios are set to continue. On Saturday, a bargaining session on Zoom is scheduled, and this time, it’s expected to involve a larger group of studio leaders.

In recent negotiations, prominent studio heads like Bob Iger from Disney, Donna Langley from NBCUniversal, Ted Sarandos from Netflix, and David Zaslav from Warner Bros. Discovery have been present. However, the Saturday session is expected to include more participants from the major studios and streaming platforms.

The SAG-AFTRA strike has been ongoing since July, and the two parties have been in continuous negotiations since October 24. Despite the protracted negotiations, there are varying levels of optimism about when a deal might be reached.

In a previous meeting about a week ago, top executives from Disney, NBCUniversal, Netflix, and Warner Bros. Discovery, along with Sony Pictures’ Tony Vinciquerra, Paramount’s Brian Robbins, and Amazon Studios’ Mike Hopkins and Jennifer Salke, discussed the stakes surrounding TV and film production schedules, especially regarding the 2024 summer movie calendar.

It’s expected that they will also participate in the ZOOM.

It remains a significant moment in the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, and all parties are eager to find a resolution to the issues under discussion.
