If you can believe this, it’s already been a year since the subdued, “The Pandemmys” aired. This Sunday, Cedric the Entertainer will host the 73rd Emmys ceremony before a live limited audience on CBS. The traditional Governors Ball will not be held this year (both due to Covid-19 precautions), but that doesn’t mean there won’t be tears of joy when those behind the shows we love take the stage to collect their gold statues.
So who do we think is going to win the Emmy? Some bets are easy – Ted Lasso, Queen’s Gambit. But what about genre shows like WandaVision, The Boys, Lovecraft Country and The Mandalorian? Or newcomers like Hacks? Will Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy go to Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein or Chicago’s Brendan Hunt? Will The Boys or Lovecraft Country knock Netflix’s Crown from its throne?
