Emma Stone shared her thoughts in a candid conversation with interviewers after a surprising win at the 96th Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Stone, who won the prestigious award for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in Poor Things, expressed a mix of shock and gratitude for the recognition.

During the post-Oscars interview, Stone admitted to being taken aback by her win, stating, “I don’t know if it was more than ever. And it — really? Oh, God. I think I blacked out. Yes, I was very shocked. I still feel like I’m – I’m spinning a little bit.” Her humility and genuine surprise resonated with audiences, highlighting the significance of the moment for the accomplished actress.

One of the lighter moments of the conversation revolved around Stone’s wardrobe mishap during the ceremony. She recounted how her dress needed emergency repairs after getting carried away during Ryan Gosling’s performance of I’m Just Ken. Despite the minor wardrobe malfunction, Stone maintained her poise and grace throughout the evening. “Yes, they sewed me back in. Right when I came back, they sewed me back in, which was wonderful. I generally do think I busted it during, I’m Just Ken. I was so amazed by Ryan and what he was doing, and that number just blew my mind. And I was right there, and I just was going for it, and, you know, things happen,” Stone noted.

When asked about the character of Bella Baxter and what she learned from portraying her, Stone spoke passionately about the role’s impact on her. “She is a character that is so, so important to me. It — I think the chance to — to play a person starting from scratch, but in a total metaphorical, can’t-really-happen-in-real-life way, who’s gaining language and skills at a rapid pace every day and getting to, sort of, chart that course and realize that she was just full of — of joy and curiosity and true love, of not just the good, but the challenging in life and was fascinated by all of it, that was an amazing, an amazing lesson to take with me and to try to get to live in the shoes of every day.”

Stone added, “So I really miss playing her ever since we wrapped filming, which was a long time ago. It was like two and a half years ago. I miss Bella. And I’m really grateful that we got to celebrate the film tonight and over these past few months.”

Reflecting on her experience filming Poor Things, Stone expressed fondness for the character and the journey she embarked on while portraying Bella. Despite wrapping filming two and a half years ago, Stone admitted missing the role and the opportunity it provided for growth and exploration.

As the conversation concluded, Stone graciously thanked the interviewers and expressed her appreciation for the recognition. Her win for Best Actress marked a significant milestone in her career, solidifying her place among Hollywood’s elite talents.

Emma Stone’s reflections on winning the Leading Actress Oscar underscored the transformative power of storytelling and the profound impact of portraying complex characters onscreen. As she continues her artistic journey, audiences eagerly anticipate her future projects and the depth and authenticity she brings to each role.
