Independent production company and creative agency Ela Road has earned Gold and Silver honors at the 47th Annual Telly Awards, standing alongside industry giants including Paramount TV, Warner Bros. Discovery, FOX Entertainment, Meta, Mayo Clinic, Sony Music, TED, Al Jazeera, Variety, PETA, United Talent Agency, People Inc., Olympic Channel, AccuWeather, ABC News, Dude Perfect, Washington Commanders, Harvard Business School, Modern Post and TikTok.
The Gold went to the company’s short proof-of-concept horror film, Swipe. The film, written and produced by founder Colin Costello and directed by Patia Prouty, is the story of a woman (Grimm’s Anne Leighton) battling an evil spirit that has possessed her fictional dating app, “Date or Hate.” Watch the trailer below:
A Silver Telly was awarded to the company’s 30-second commercial for a cold-pressed juicer from the Chinese company, Maison Huis. The spot, written by Costello and Ela Road partner and Art Director Lily Kim, focuses on a young girl (Kim’s daughter) attempting to sell lemonade from her stand on a hot day. Her parents save the day after they give her the Maison Huis Juicer. “Lemons” was directed by Costello and produced in conjunction with Macaroni Entertainment.
“Video has never been more contested, more creative, or more consequential than it is right now,” said Amanda Needham, Managing Director of The Telly Awards. “The Telly Awards has had a front-row seat to this industry for 47 years, and today’s entertainment is happening in multiple formats, across every screen, and at every budget level.”
Needham added that this year’s winners demonstrate how video continues to evolve while maintaining the power to inform, entertain and inspire audiences around the world.
A beaming Costello noted, “We are building something special here at Ela Road on both the narrative side and the branded side. The world is starving for fresh stories and our Telly Awards prove that.”
