DOMO director Jonathan Klein brings family dynamics to Carvana

Carvana has turned its lens on the humorous and enlightening moments of car buying within families in two entertaining new films created by DOMO’s Jonathan Klein. Two spots, “Kiddo” and “Clicker,” amplify the broader themes of Carvana’s messaging, which revolves around the intimate, relatable, and clever humor that resonates within families.

In “Clicker,” the spotlight falls on an unsuspecting grandma who demonstrates to her grandson how easy it is to sell a car on Carvana. The spot playfully subverts age-related expectations with a touch of humor. Watch below:

Meanwhile, “Kiddo,” as the name suggests, stars a little girl who defies expectations by effortlessly solving her parents’ car-buying dilemma. Throughout these commercials, the witty banter and knowing glances characteristic of family interactions reflect the closeness and care that defines the Carvana experience.

Director Jonathan Klein offers insights into how he portrayed the knowledge gap between family members in these films. “For our films, when the formerly naive characters come to understand the ease of Carvana, the camera shifts its perspective from a high to a low angle. A new idea has taken hold, emphasizing the simplicity. Ultimately, it’s a portrayal of love: the grandson eager to assist his grandmother with the remote, and the parents looking forward to taking their daughter to the movies.”

Both “Kiddo” and “Clicker” will make their way across various channels, including digital platforms, television, and social media. These films are part of Carvana’s integrated campaign, featuring celebrity couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, also created in collaboration with DOMO and Jonathan Klein.
