
Rising star Doechii has reached a new milestone with her latest single, Denial Is a River, which debuted at #76 on the Billboard Hot 100. This achievement marks the highest debut of her career, surpassing her previous entry, What It Is (Block Boy), which opened at #98.
The track garnered approximately 8.4 million U.S. streams and 700 digital downloads in its first week, contributing significantly to its chart position. The song’s popularity surged following Doechii’s viral live TV performance and the release of its star-studded music video at the beginning of 2025.





Denial Is a River is featured on Doechii’s third mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, released in August 2024. The mixtape has been praised for its versatility and has earned Doechii three Grammy nominations, including Best Rap Album.
Born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon on August 14, 1998, in Tampa, Florida, Doechiihas been making waves in the music industry with her unique blend of hip hop, R&B, and pop. She gained prominence with her 2020 release, Oh the Places You’ll Go, and the viral success of Yucky Blucky Fruitcake in 2021.
In 2022, she signed with Top Dawg Entertainment in a joint venture with Capitol Records and released the EP She / Her / Black Bitch. Her 2023 single, What It Is (Block Boy) featuring Kodak Black, marked her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and received platinum certification by the RIAA.
In addition to her musical achievements, Doechii has been recognized with several accolades, including the Rising Star Award from Billboard Women in Music in 2023. She has also earned nominations for three Grammy Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, a BET Award, and two Soul Train Music Awards.
