This Halloween, Disney+ is turning fright night into a full-body experience with the debut of the EDGEOFYØR Seat, a limited-edition physical chair designed to keep viewers literally on the edge of their seats.
The spooky innovation is part of Huluween on Disney+, offering fans a fresh way to experience the streamer’s biggest scarefest of the year. Developed by Austin-based agency CALLEN in collaboration with furniture designer Fyrn, the EDGEOFYØR Seat is a tongue-in-cheek twist on Fyrn’s award-winning Mariposa chair, with over 80% of the seat hacked away, leaving only the very edge intact.
The handcrafted piece features a Charcoal Black finish, Copper Bronze brackets, and a satirical tagline: “Handcrafted by Fyrn. Engineered for Fear.”
“Huluween on Disney+ delivers the kind of scares that keep you on the edge of your seat – so we carved away the rest,” said Zack Jerome, VP of Brand and Marketing Strategy at Disney+. “It’s a reminder that during Huluween, there’s no such thing as sitting back and relaxing.”
To celebrate the launch, Disney+ dropped a darkly comic 30-second social film titled Chainsaw. Set in a dim workshop, the short features a masked craftsman wielding a buzzing chainsaw as he slices away most of a wooden chair, leaving behind only the seat’s edge. The punchline: “You only need the edge.” Watch below:
“Fyrn has always been about craftsmanship and storytelling,” said David Charne, CEO and Co-founder of Fyrn. “Reimagining our Mariposa chair as the EDGEOFYØR Seat was a playful challenge that let us fuse our precision design ethos with Disney’s sense of theatrical fun.”
The campaign ties into a Huluween on Disney+ lineup packed with both classic and modern horror favorites, including Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Scream, The Sixth Sense, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Marvel Zombies, The Man in My Basement, and Stay.
