In a notable development for The Martin Agency, Danny Robinson has been appointed as the new CEO. Robinson, who has been an integral part of Martin for nearly two decades and currently serves as its chief creative officer, was selected for the CEO role by Interpublic Group (IPG), the agency’s parent company headquartered in New York.

His appointment marks a significant milestone for Martin, as Robinson becomes the agency’s first black CEO, breaking new ground in its leadership history.

Robinson succeeds Kristen Cavallo, who served as CEO for the past six years and recently assumed the role of global CEO at IPG’s MullenLowe Group. The transition comes at a pivotal time for Martin, as it navigates through leadership changes and continues to expand its presence in the advertising industry.

During his tenure as chief creative officer, Robinson played a pivotal role in shaping Martin’s creative direction and fostering its growth. Under his leadership, the agency has achieved notable successes, including being named Adweek’s U.S. Agency of the Year for two consecutive years. His appointment as CEO reflects his proven track record and deep understanding of the agency’s culture and values.

Robinson’s vision for Martin’s future emphasizes innovation, inclusivity, and continued excellence in creative work. He brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the role, drawing from his extensive background in advertising and creative leadership.

In a statement, Robinson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead Martin into its next chapter of growth and success. “Our leaders don’t operate on an island. And that includes our CEO,” said Robinson. “Martin has an executive committee that works as a team on every major decision facing the organization and I have been an integral part of the team for the last five years. I’ve seen firsthand what can be accomplished when we all row together. Kristen, the entire executive team and all our people and partners have set this agency up for what will be its best chapter yet. We will continue to lean into our mission to fight invisibility and build the agency, client brands and an industry of which we can all be proud. It is my honor to lead the agency into its next era.”

“Moving from CCO to CEO is uncommon, but it shouldn’t be. Our industry has become increasingly focused on consolidation and efficiencies, and we need to return the conversation to creativity,” added Philippe Krakowsky, CEO of IPG. “Some of the industry’s most enviable work has been made by agencies led by creative people. Too often, they leave to start their own agency to be taken seriously as business leaders. Danny has held roles across the agency in preparation for just this moment.”

This announcement follows a strong year-end in terms of new business for The Martin Agency. Danny, along with Martin’s leadership team, led the growth efforts of the agency’s portfolio as they won several new clients, including Papa Johns, Skrewball, MiracleGro and a range of brands from Sanofi North America.

The next chief creative officer of The Martin Agency will be named in February.

As Martin’s new CEO, Robinson is poised to drive forward the agency’s mission and expand its impact in the advertising industry. His appointment signals a new era of leadership for Martin, characterized by diversity, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to creative excellence.

Reel 360 News extends our congratulations to Danny and wish him the best of luck.
