This may have been the year of COVID-19. But this was also the year of D-Nice. The 24th Annual Webby Awards is delighted to honor celebrity DJ (and the savior of Quarantine) as the 2020 Webby Artist of the Year to recognize his creation of Home School at #ClubQuarantine, his free DJ sets on Instagram Live, to help people dance, and have fun amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Webbys had this to say, “As we collectively navigate the severe impact of COVID-19 on the world and social distancing, the Internet has become the lifeblood for people looking to connect, and escape the uncertainty of current times.”
Since spinning his first Club Quarantine set for nine hours, D-Nice’s livestream has become the star-studded, virtual “place-to-be,” where over 150,000 viewers can let go of fear and uncertainty and lean into pure joy and healing. Moreover, by using his platform to give voice to causes like Michelle Obama’s “When We All Vote,” D-Nice demonstrates his belief in the Internet as the perfect tool to engage people’s hearts while pushing for political participation.
