CW renews ‘Supernatural’ for 15th and final season

Supernatural-15 (1)

The party is finally over for The Winchesters.

Supernatural, the longest-running genre show on TV, has been confirmed for a Season 15 which will also be its last.

Lead actor Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean Winchester, made the announcement vis his Twitter account on March 22:

Co-star Jared Padalecki, who plays brother Sam Winchester, followed with this tear-jerker tweet:

After wrapping the 14th season, Ackles tweeted again yesterday, where he promised the show will go out “Big!”:

Executive Producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb said in a statement: “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime.”

The producing pair added, “The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”

The final season will reportedly contain 20 episodes. The series, which was created by my cousin (by marriage) Eric Kripke, is the last remaining series from the long defunct WB network. After a merger with Paramount’s network UPN in 2006, the Winchesters were one of the few series which made the transfer.

Hopefully, Winchesters will get third brother Adam, who has been trapped in a cage since S5.

Currently, Supernatural Season 14 is airing Thursdays on The CW. As always, share your thoughts on this below.
