Cricket bodyslams competition in new stop-motion campaign

Cricket Wireless, along with San Francisco-based creative agency ARGONAUT, turned to its longstanding sponsorship partner (World Wrestling Entertainment) WWE to develop a new ad campaign to help ensure its 5G network would hit the market like a body slam.

This week, Cricket released three rousing, energized brand films, which premiered first on social media platforms (before soon expanding to TV and OLV), starring WWE Superstars The Miz, Charlotte Flair and Drew McIntyre, as well as beloved Cricket mascots Dusty, Lucy and Miles.

The campaign represents how Cricket’s new 5G network can better connect all types of communities to the things that make them smile more, and announces the company as a major player in the 5G arena.

The spots were developed through the lens of creating social-first content, using stop-motion animation and action figures of the wrestling celebs, to illustrate the power and speed of Cricket 5G. Watch below:

“We really wanted to tap into the heart of WWE fandom while emphasizing the joy, speed and power that Cricket represents,” said Hunter Hindman, CCO of ARGONAUT. “And what better way to do that than to not only feature WWE stars, but show them playing with their own collectibles? The goal was to demonstrate how Cricket can bring WWE fans’ dreams to life.”
