Cocaine Bear Music Coordinator joins Swell as EP

Swell Music + Sound, the Bay Area studio specializing in original music, sound design, sonic branding, and audio mixing and post-production, has made a significant addition to its team with the appointment of Ana Velasco as its new Executive Producer.

The announcement was made by Swell’s Founder and Creative Director, Elad Marish.

Bringing a wealth of experience in sync for agencies, brands, and hit films, Velasco is set to expand Swell’s capabilities in serving clients and forging vital industry connections. Prior to joining Swell, she was associated with Format Entertainment, a company specializing in music licensing and supervision for the entertainment and media sectors.

Ana Velasco’s filmography includes roles as a music coordinator for notable films such as Cocaine Bear, Unfrosted, Jerry and Marge Go Large, and Shotgun Wedding. Moreover, she has served as a music supervisor for various short films. Her extensive background in the film industry positions her as a valuable asset to Swell as they continue to broaden their services.

Before her tenure at Format Entertainment, Velasco worked with brands and agencies as a Creative Sync Manager at Position Music, where she collaborated closely with Music Supervisor Michael Frick, a colleague of Swell’s Creative Director, Elad Marish.

Velasco, a published poet and writer originally from Mexico City, currently splits her time between Los Angeles and her hometown. Her Latin heritage opens doors for Swell to engage with Hispanic agencies and brands, providing exciting growth opportunities for the studio.

Marish expressed his enthusiasm about Ana Velasco’s appointment, stating, “Ana is a fantastic person and fits our culture really well. With her on board, we can broaden our client base and make new connections in different markets.”

Marish emphasized Velasco’s eagerness to understand Swell’s workflow and its collaborations with agencies and brands. Her role as Executive Producer will enable her to apply this knowledge to her work in music supervision and curation, creating a seamless synergy across Swell’s diverse portfolio.

The connection between Velasco and Marish was forged at an awards show in Los Angeles earlier this year, where they bonded over their shared passion for music and its crucial role in storytelling, from advertisements to video games and, of course, film and TV.

Speaking about the growth opportunities Swell represents, Velasco stated, “I come from a writing background, including copywriting, which is all about understanding the underlying emotional landscape, so being able to play upon those themes with sound has been really incredible. I like to apply creativity to every aspect of my life, and having a multimedia background in the worlds of editorial, advertising, and film will allow me to bring a unique perspective on problem-solving and creative management for all of our clients and endeavors at Swell, not only for brands and ad agencies.”

Ana Velasco will soon meet Swell’s San Francisco clients and friends at the upcoming AICP Awards screening and panel scheduled for mid-October at the Exploratorium. Swell Music + Sound is the official music sponsor for the event and will be responsible for DJing the reception following the panel discussion and screening.

Established in 2009, Swell’s extensive client list boasts prominent brands such as Pepsi, Meta, Nike, Airbnb, Old Navy, Fitbit, Barefoot Wines, Uber, and Google. Their portfolio also includes work with local favorites such as the NBA’s Golden State Warriors and MLB’s San Francisco Giants.

In addition to their core services of providing original and licensed music, sound design, and audio post-production for brands and agencies, Swell has an impressive track record in music videos and short films. They are also the creators of #Beatific, a psychedelic indie pop band that releases original music online.

Velasco’s appointment as Executive Producer at Swell Music + Sound is expected to elevate the studio’s creative offerings and industry prominence, making it a noteworthy development in the world of music and sound production.

Reel 360 News wishes Ana the best of luck at Swell.
