A week after crushing it at the Grammys, Bad Bunny says excitement and nerves are keeping him up at night as he counts down to his Super Bowl halftime performance.
The 31-year-old global superstar will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, performing his set midway through the big game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. And while he’s embracing the moment, the scale of the event hasn’t exactly made sleep easy.
Speaking with Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden during an interview for Apple Music, Bad Bunny joked that his Super Bowl preparation has included late-night thoughts and comfort food.
“I’ve been working on this show, what we’re gonna do next Sunday, it’s a lot. Thinking about the Super Bowl at 4am, that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s been hard not to,” he said, adding that he’s also been “eating smashburgers.”
Despite the restless nights, Bad Bunny says he’s trying to stay grounded as the big day approaches. “I’m happy but I’m just processing, taking one day at a time. I just try to take it easy. Wake up, work out, drink my coffee, try not to think too much about it,” he explained.
Still, the anticipation sometimes wins out. “Last night I couldn’t sleep, I was thinking about it. I want to think it’s 13 minutes of doing what I love, what I like. I know I’m gonna have fun,” he said. “All the crew, all the people. They’re going to have fun that day. That’s what I’m trying to focus on.”
While he stayed tight-lipped about possible guest appearances or specific setlist details, Bad Bunny promised the performance would feel like a celebration.
“I want people to have fun. It’s going to be a huge party,” he said. “Of course, a lot of my culture, but I don’t want to give any spoilers. It’s going to be fun. It’s going to be easy.”
And for anyone worried about keeping up?“They don’t even have to learn Spanish,” he added. “It’s better if they learn to dance. There’s no better dance than the one that comes from the heart.”
